2026-2027 Auditions​​​

 

Auditions will be held in the Westmont Cafeteria. All 3 days are mandatory:

 

• Monday, April 20, 3:30-5 pm

• Tuesday, April 21, 3:30-5 pm

• Thursday, April 23, 3:30-5 pm

 

On Monday and Tuesday dancers will warm up and learn 1-2 across the floor technique combinations (turns, leaps, kicks, etc) and 2 short movement combos (1 pom and 1 hip hop). On Thursday dancers will warm up, briefly review the audition material, and then perform the material in small groups assigned by Coach Sarah for the audition. Following their performance of the pom combo, dancers will be given the opportunity to display technical specialties (tumbling, tricks) not included in the audition material in an improvisation section. Outside observers and video recording are prohibited during the actual audition.

Dancers auditioning should wear fitted dance attire, dance shoes, and athletic shoes. If you do not have dance shoes, please wear your athletic shoes. Hair should be pulled back and excessive jewelry removed. If you have your own poms, please bring them. Otherwise we will have poms for you to borrow.

 

Auditioning dancers will be scored 1-5 (1 is low, 5 is high) in the following areas:

 

• Flexibility

• Overall Technique

• Knowledge of Choreography

• Timing

• Stage Presence

 

These scores will help inform Coach Sarah as she decides on team members.

 

Audition Results will be posted on the Dance Team's Instagram account (@whswarriorsdanceteam) on Friday, April 24, at 3 pm. Please respect the decision of Coach Sarah.

 

Please carefully read the entire 2026-2027 WHS Dance Team Handbook before deciding to audition, even if you have been on the team before as some things have changed. The Dance Team is a significant time commitment.
